Back in 2015, Delightworks released Fate/Grand Order (FGO), a freemium online-RPG title combined with turn-based combat and a Gacha card system.

In this game, players will traverse through time to fight and reclaim various personifications of the Holy Grail. Players summon the souls of ancient heroes, called Servants, on the battlefield. Each of these heroes possesses special abilities and dominant strengths. Players will be commanding a team of 6 heroes—3 as active heroes and 3 as reserve heroes.

There’s a bunch of things that you should know before you get started with your quests in Fate/Grand Order. This guide will help you understand a bit more about the game and how it works. This is perfect if you found the game too overwhelming the first time.

1. Focus on the Storyline

For starters, it is a good idea to focus on the storyline. You can allocate your Action Points (AP) in completing the campaign or story mode until you hit a wall mid-game. By then, you should start playing out various in-game tasks and prioritize those that you think are important and beneficial to your overall gameplay.

You have an ample amount of AP in the early stages of the game, but make sure you still use them wisely. You may opt to use your AP in the Treasure Hunt for Quantum Piece (QP), Training Grounds for upgrading, or Ember Gather for servant XP cards.

2. Participate in Daily Quests

While you are focused on the main story, be sure to also check on your Daily Quests. When these quests are completed, you will be granted with Mana Prisms and XP cards that can help you level up your Servants. The grind can be tedious, but the rewards are worth it.

3. How to Empower Your Heroes

Upon completing the main story or campaign missions, you can gain access to more game features, story-based heroes, and special rewards to enhance your servants. There are also other ways to earn empowerment for your servants. These are through daily quests, rank quests, and interlude missions.

The Daily Quests are your bread and butter when it comes to obtaining more XP cards and Mana Prisms. Rank Up Quests rewards players with NP power to cards for your servant’s skills. Completing Interlude Missions or side-quests of the game gives a glimpse of servants with unlockable quests that can be accessed once you raise your heroes to Interludes. Through this, you can unravel more backstories and improve skills.

4. Take Part in Events

Like Daily Quests, Events are also important so make sure to devote some time here as well!. Your main goal is to obtain bonus Servants and other materials. These rewards are hard to come by, so might as well try your luck in these events!

5. Exchange Mana Prisms for Summon Cards

Since you have been busy stockpiling Mana Prisms by completing quests, it’s time to use and trade them for summon cards or tickets. These items can make one Saint Quartz summon. You can also exchange 20 Mana Prisms for 1 ticket. And if you grind hard enough, you can get a premium summon every 24 hours!

6. Best Way to Use Duplicate Servants

In a Gacha-based game like Fate/Grand Order, it is very common to get the same card of Servants with the same tier from your free summons or friend points. Of course, you will think they are useless and you might be inclined to discard them to make way for high-tier hero cards. However, there’s a more efficient way to make use of duplicates and this is by using them to increase the Noble Phantasm (NP) power of your original servant. Tag them as enhancement materials and they will buff up your NP of up to 200% more!

7. Get More Friends Points

As mentioned above, you can summon servants for free using Friend Points. You will need 30 of these to accomplish a friendship summon. You can earn more of these points in two different ways. First, you can pick a support hero for other players and get FP rewards. Other players can also do the same for you, and this could earn you additional FP too. It is called Friend Points for a reason because earning them means you socialized with other players in the community. So don’t be shy, be a social butterfly and start joining a guild!

8. Class Affinity of Servants and Enemies

Since we are already talking about summoning Servants, you must know that each Servant in the game belongs to one specific class. Each possesses different strengths and weaknesses. Enemy class tendencies are shown to players via icons, so choose a team that gives you an advantage over the enemy type provided.

9. Keep your 3-Star Servants

Most low-tier cards get discarded especially when players get 4 to 5-star tier heroes in a  like this one. There is no doubt that higher tier heroes are stronger and better but that’s not the case for FGO. You might want to hold on to your 3-star heroes because they will come in handy during the early parts of the game.

Even if you don’t have a 5-star hero yet, you can buff your 3-star servants to make them powerful. You will be surprised that they would actually end up better than some 5-star servants in the later stages of the game.

Overall, don’t rush playing FGO. Just go through the gameplay slowly but surely. Think of a good strategy as you learn the ropes of the game. Most importantly, read through the strengths and abilities of your heroes. You will only be successful if you are knowledgeable and patient enough for this game.
