Match-3 puzzles are fun to play. But here’s a match-3 that’s different. It’s titled Alien Hive, a casual puzzle game published by Appxplore. It’s a game where your goal is to evolve aliens into their higher forms. And to do that you have to merge three similar organisms in the puzzle board. But aliens aren’t the only thing you’ll evolve in the game. You also have to evolve plants.

And you again do that by merging similar lower organisms in the puzzle board. The Alien Hive gameplay may feel like a match-3 because you move pieces on the board. But when you start to play, you’ll see that it’s very different from a typical match-3 puzzle.

Move Pieces to Merge Them in Alien Hive

The goal of the Alien Hive game is for you to create a hive full of aliens and plant life. And to do that, you’ll have to merge the lesser organisms in the puzzle board to create a higher form of the organism. You’ll do this until you’ve unlocked all available alien organisms or until you run out of energy to use. But for you to merge organisms, they need to be beside each other in the Alien Hive puzzle board.

You’ll have to move pieces around the puzzle board to get similar organisms together. But unlike the match-3 puzzle, you don’t switch pieces on the board. You will move them and you’ll do that through the gap in the board. It’s why Alien Hive is different from any match-3 puzzle. It’s also more challenging to play because you have to be strategic in how you move pieces around the board.

Learning the Alien Hive Gameplay

It’s simple to play Alien Hive. But it’s not an easy one to master. You will have a simple gameplay of merging similar organisms on the board to create a higher form of the organism. And you just move pieces around to bring similar organisms together. Moving them around is the challenging part of this puzzle game. There is a gap in the board, which is what you’ll use to move pieces around. You can choose to move a single piece toward the gap. You can also move an entire row or column using the gap.

You use one energy whenever you make moves but you can replenish them by merging crystals in Alien Hive. You will have access to power-ups that can help you achieve your goal. But these power-ups are also limited, so you need to use them wisely. See if you can unlock all of the available aliens so they can populate your hive. You can also try playing the Blitz game mode where you have 60 seconds to merge as many organisms as you can on the board.
