One good strategy is to start by swiping left to right to create tiles of 2s and then 4s (after combining tiles of 2s), and then 8s (after combining tiles of 4s). Do this until you can fill in all the blank squares with 2s, 4s, and 8s. Once you cannot go left or right, it’s time to go up or down already.

Select Moves Where Multiple Tiles Can Merge

In the course of playing the game, it may be tempting to chase around the largest number on your board. However, this is actually a bad strategy. You will only create more unmatchable numbers and run out of moves later on.

So, take it easy, and think about every move you make. A good rule of thumb is to swipe towards a direction where more tiles can possibly merge and create bigger numbers in the process. It is also best to keep your tiles grouped in a corner so that shifting to another direction will be easier.
