Horror [REC] Gameplay

The game is a good way to break away from the typical ghost and zombie shooters. In the game, you neither have a weapon to defend yourself nor terrifying pursuers to gouge your eye out. All you have is your trusty camera, paranormal sensor, and a chest-pounding sense of anticipation.

You will play as a journalist who has to document horrifying places such as an abandoned asylum and a cemetery. Your goal is to film a required number of paranormal activity in the area. This is a good way to get you to explore the entire place and opens lots of opportunities for creepy surprises. Surely, every door you open will make your heart go wild as you try to guess what is on the other side of the door.

The frightening feel is intensified by the Paranormal sensor mechanics. A paranormal sensor is a gadget you can use for night vision and see ghosts in your front. This mechanics will give you goosebumps as you try nervously activate the sensor. Ominous events like wheelchairs being tossed around will force you to activate the sensor to see what is actually happening.

Throughout your play session, you will come across various horror tropes like ghosts walking the wall in all fours. And even phantoms suddenly appearing in your front when the sensor is toggled. If the sensor is activated and you fail to turn it off when a non-static ghost appears, your character will die.

Graphics and Sound

The sound effects and the music complements the desired atmosphere of the game. The thrilling music and the heavy-breathing of the character creates panic that can become unsettling over time. While there are no screaming banshees to give you jumpscares, the game can make you jumpy in a matter of seconds EVEN WHEN THE SOUND IS OFF. Minor Details

The level of details of the environment is quite impressive for a small-scale game. Even if some game assets are reused every now and then, the game still boasts a robust array of environmental designs. If you play in the asylum, you will feel that you are indeed in an asylum. There are also tiny details that you can only see while using the paranormal sensor. Like ghostly corpses and demonic faces that litter the game areas. I even came across a twisted leg sticking out of a toilet!
