The game is played by two players with 15 checkers of his color. Each one also has its dice and cup. To start, both players will roll a single die and the player with the highest number will move first. Then both competitors will take turns. The checker can only move forward towards the home board. The checker may only land on an open spot, which must not be occupied.

When it is moved onto a blot and gets a hit, the opposing checker needs to be placed on the bar. If all the player’s pieces are on the home board, the checkers can bore off. You can do this by rolling a number that corresponds to a point where a checker is. The person who manages to bear off all fifteen checkers wins the stake in Backgammon King. If the opponent has no checkers to bear off, then the person loses a gammon along with losing twice the stakes.
