How To Properly Play Indian Rummy

In Indian Rummy, players will be given 13 cards each, and the goal is to form valid sequences or sets out of the cards they have. An example of a valid sequence is the numbers 8, 9, 10 of the same suit, while an example of a good set is the numbers 5, 5, 5 with different suits.

To form your sets or sequences, you get to draw cards. That’s either from the deck or from the card thrown away by the player before your turn. Once you pick up a card, you should also throw one card down. The goal is to form sets and sequence first, then the other players. Another way to win is by having the lesser points. Each card has a corresponding point, with the Aces and Face cards having a high value of ten and the Joker at 0. The other card points will correspond to their numbers.
