If you are a Pokémon fan, then you may have been familiar with Pokémon UNITE game for PC – a 5v5 massive online battle arena (MOBA) from The Pokémon Company. This game features Pokémon characters in casual 5v5 battles or ranked matches fit for competitive players. Either way, you will need a trustworthy Pokémon partner like the ever-popular Pikachu, Squirtle, Charizard, Zeraora, or Ninetails.

What Type of Pokémon is Zeraora?
Firstly, Zeraora is a mythical Pokémon that is available as one of the first 20 pokémons in the initial roster. It is a melee or short-range fighter that specializes in close combat. It is also a speed-type pokémon with lightning attributes. As a speedster, Zeraora’s moveset focuses on using its abilities to move quickly across the map. Furthermore, it can easily pass through obstacles to gain the upper hand.
However, as an endurance-type speedster, Zeraora can easily be killed by a misplay or if its abilities are on cooldown (CD). Fortunately, this mythical beast can maximize its speed to narrow or widen the gap between enemy pokémons and can quickly deal maximum damage within a short distance.
Skills & Moves
Firstly, let’s go over Pokémon Zeraora’s basic attack and passive skills. Every third basic attack that it administers will have an increased damage output to its enemy. It also stuns or incapacitates the enemy and then steals its HP. Secondly, Zeraora’s passive skill, Volt Absorb, gains an electric charge whenever Zeraora receives damage. This is converted into additional attack damage against the enemy. Simply put, Zeraora deals more damage when it receives more damage from the opponent.
Furthermore, Zeraora is an electric-type Pokémon like Pikachu so its moves include a combination of lightning attributes. When playing Zeraora, it is always advisable to solo the mid-lane while your other teammates pair up at the top and bottom lanes.
Early Game Abilities
Since Pokémon UNITE Zeraora is a speedster, it is highly recommended to choose Slash skill rather than Agility skill in the early game. Slash is its skill that unleashes a barrage of attacks with its sharp claws, while Agility allows Zeraora to dash in a direction and receives a speed boost to its basic attacks, albeit temporarily.
Mid-Game Skills
When you reach level 6 in the mid-game, you will be prompted to choose between two skills – Volt Switch or Spark skill. The former lets you dash through enemies and deal damage to any Pokémon you hit, all the while boosting your attack speed temporarily. While the latter lets you leap at your enemy to incur damage and steal their HP up to three times before cooling down.
Late to End-Game Moveset
Upon reaching level 8, you are entering the latter part of the game. By this time, Zeraora should be dealing high damage. Here, you will need to choose yet again between two skills – Discharge and Wild Charge skill. Discharge skill uses lightning to deal damage to nearby enemies while shielding Zeraora from attacks. After which, paralyzed opponents will be pulled towards you, stunned, and get damaged again. Upgrading this skill will slow down opponents that you hit. The Wild Charge skill, on the other hand, allows you to dash forward unleashing a combo upon impact but at the cost of losing your HP.
When you reach level 9, Zeraora will now be able to acquire its ultimate skill called Plasma Gale. This skill has an Area of Effect (AOE) that gives Zeraora increased damage and attack range while inside the plasma zone. Plasma Gale is a potent move with electric waves that easily put opponents down, especially if their HP is dwindling.
Item Build for Pokémon UNITE Zeraora
The Pokémon Zeraora can either fight up close or pick off pokémons alone in mid-range. It can also easily burst ranged attackers or supports and still be able to escape the fight if things become too rough to handle. As with playing other pokémons, it takes a lot of practice to avoid any misplays. It also requires patience to find the right item build fit for your playstyle.
Held Items
Pokémon Zeraora can stash up to three held items. We highly recommend choosing held items that help in boosting its speed and attack. Speed items are vital for a speedster Pokémon like Zeraora, regardless of whether you choose other items to boost its electric attribute. Below is our list of the best items you can choose from to build your Zeraora.
- Float Stone – increases movement speed by 10%, 15%, and 20% at levels 1, 10, and 20 respectively, when the Pokémon is not in combat. It also gives a flat rate of additional damage to basic attacks.
- Muscle Band – causes basic attacks to deal more damage by 1%, 2%, and 3% according to the item’s grade level, and depends upon your opponent’s current HP.
- Scope Lens – increases the critical hit damage and rate of basic attacks depending on the pokémon’s basic attack output.
Battle Items for Zeraora
Unlike Held items that provide passive boosts to a pokémon’s skillset, battle items can only be carried one at a time and can only be activated manually by pressing the “Y” button. This key difference makes the latter more situationally important than the former. For Zeraora’s battle items, we recommend you choose between Fluffy Tail or Eject Button.
- The Eject Button quickly lets your Pokémon move to a specific location and has a cooldown of 70 seconds.
- The Fluffy Tail helps to easily clear the lane by stunning wild pokémons and increasing the bearer’s damage output.
