When Pokemon GO was first released, it took the world by storm. People from different parts of the world were out with their phones, playing games and trying to catch different types of Pokemon in public. Aside from catching Pokemon, people are also battling in various gyms, trying to take down the current gym leader and reign supreme. It was a very fun and exciting game and it brought AR technology to the limelight.

Of course, that popularity is hard to sustain and the number of players has drastically decreased already. But this doesn’t mean that the game is dead and no one is playing it. There are still millions of players who constantly play Pokemon GO and there are new players who are trying out the game for the first time. And since it still has a strong player base, the developers are still bringing out new updates and content for the game from time to time.

The latest change was Pokemon GO Seasons, which was first introduced last December 1, 2020. Seasons are content changes that will come to the game regularly and will last for 3 months. The first-ever season is the Season of Celebration and the upcoming season will be the Season of Legends which is scheduled to begin on March 1, 2020, and last until June 1. But what does the new season bring? Let’s find out in this article.

What Are Seasons in Pokemon GO?

To help you understand how this latest update will work, let’s first discuss briefly what seasons are in Pokemon GO. As mentioned earlier, seasons are updates that bring changes to the game for 3 months. The changes would usually center on the theme for the season. The first season was the Season of Celebration, so the changes, events, and new content coming to the game are all about celebrating.

This will be how seasons will play out until the developers change it. So, for the upcoming season, Season of Legends, the theme will be about Legendary Pokemon and Legendary Trainers.

Get Ready For The Legendary & Mega-Evolved Pokemon

A new season is not complete without new Pokemon arriving in the game. And for the upcoming season, we will see the introduction of the new Legendary Pokemon. They are the Therian Formes of Landorus, Tornadus, and Thundurus, from Generation V. They are known as the Forces of Nature and in their Incarnate Forme, they look more like gods riding on top of their clouds. Tornadus is a wind-type Pokemon, Thundurus is lightning, and Landorus is a rock type. They are powerful Pokemon that can be a great addition to any team. And you will have a chance to acquire them during the Season of Legends.

Aside from the introduction of new Legendary Pokemon, the upcoming season will also see the debut of Mega-Evolved Pokemon. Mega Evolution is a temporary transformation that certain Pokemon can undergo. These Mega-Evolved Pokemon will become available throughout the season. They will appear during the Mega Raid events that will take place throughout Season of Legends.

New Eggs to Hatch

Of course, there are also new wild Pokemon for players to try and capture. They will become available to the game in various habitats. Some of the new ones would be Mantine, Frillish, Glameow, Voltorb, and more.

Mantine and Frillish will likely appear in areas that are near the water, so you might want to check out those areas if you want to capture them. For Glameow and Voltorb, you will see them quite often if you live in the city, as these Pokemon thrive in city areas.

Hoppip is a new wild Pokemon that you will encounter if you go to a grassy or forested area. There are much newer Pokemon that you will see as you move around. Aside from those, there are also new eggs for you to hatch. There’s Treecko, Mudkip, Torchic, and Budew, who can hatch from the 2km egg. Munna, Azurill, and Drowzee are available in 5km eggs, while Nincanada and Almonda can be hatched from 10km eggs. More new Pokemon egg hatches are coming with this latest update. Just see if you can catch them all.

Season of Legends: Special Research

The Season of Legends will also bring the Special Research, where you can earn candy from the 3 incoming Legendary Pokemon. To achieve this, you just need to complete the Special Research for all 3 Legendary Pokemon and you can earn their candy.

There are likely many more new things that are coming to the game once Season of Legends rolls out on March 1. But for now, the ones listed above are the confirmed changes and additions from the update.
