What is Identity V?
Identity V started as a mini-project called Dangerous Game designed to train new employees of NetEase. The original game took a month and a half to develop and was eventually expanded into a full-fledged title due to its popularity. Identity V’s gameplay is based on a hunter-prey structure where four players take the role of survivors or prey and one player takes the role of a hunter.
To make the game more immersive, the developers integrated puzzle elements into the game, shying away from the typical PVP chase scenarios. To elaborate further, players who take the role of survivors must decipher five machines and escape. Hunters on the other hand must capture and execute at least two of the four survivors to win the match.

What is an Identity V Hunter?
A hunter is a role in Identity V focused on preventing the survivors from escaping the match. Hunters also have the capability of slowing down the decoding process of the Cipher machines. Players can choose from 22 hunters as of the latest version of the game. Just like most competitive multiplayer games, the hunters in Identity V have their own tier list which consists of Dream Witch – Yidhra, Sculptor – Galatea, and Wax Artist Phillippe sitting at the top. Despite the hierarchy, a top-tiered hunter will be worthless if not equipped with the proper traits.
What are Traits?
Traits are unlockable abilities for hunters and survivors. Traits serve as boosters or enhancements for hunters. A level 1 player starts with a single trait and will eventually improve with every level-up. The list in the infographics above represents the strongest attribute of each trait.
The first trait on the list is called Listen, represented by an ear icon. Listen is a great trait that you can use against explorers. The second trait is called Blink that inflicts panic and fear on survivors. Blink, when used properly, is a decent trail overall. The Patroller is great for slowing down survivors, while the Excitement trait is highly recommended for Stun Characters. The Teleport trait on the other hand is great for chasing down survivors. The final trait on the list called Abnormal is effective against decoders and represented by an hourglass.

Chasing Down Survivors
In addition to the aforementioned tips in the infographic that discourages lengthy chases, you must also avoid targeting multiple survivors. You need to focus on capturing a single survivor and only leave the scene after the execution. You can also place puppets near rocket chairs for teleportation.
Skills Utilization
Aside from the Detention Skill featured in the infographics that makes incapacitation easy, you should also take advantage of the Listening Skill. You can activate the skill by clicking the “ear” icon on the right side of the screen. Take note however that the listening skill will pinpoint the location of the survivor if they make a sound. In other words, the skill is useless if the survivors are hiding quietly.
Securing your Victims
One of the tips mentioned in the infographics above recommends that you keep the survivors in the chair, specifically the one nearest to you. In addition to that, it is also highly recommended not to hit blindly and properly time your attack. The reason for this is because missing your target will freeze your hunter for a short while which is costly, to say the least.
